Private Appointments with Professor Dev Datta

All consultations at The Metabolic Clinic are conducted by Professor Dev Datta and take place virtually—via Zoom or telephone—for your convenience, whether you’re in Cardiff or further afield.

While the clinic is based at Spire Cardiff Hospital, appointments are currently offered remotely, allowing flexibility for patients across the UK.

You do not need a referral from your GP to book a consultation. However, some insurance providers may require one, so please check your policy.

To help make your consultation as effective as possible, we recommend having the following information ready:

  • Recent blood test results (if available)
  • A list of your current medications
  • Any relevant medical history

After your consultation, a summary letter will be sent to both you and your GP, unless you request otherwise.

  • Follow-Up Consultations: £150

Please note: The cost of any prescribed medication is additional and billed by the pharmacy directly.

As of March 2024, we are working with a trusted pharmacy provider to supply Mounjaro.

  • The current cost of 2.5 mg and 5 mg doses is £130/month
  • Other medications (e.g., Saxenda, Wegovy) are also available through our prescribing service

Professor Datta is recognised by all major UK medical insurers.
If you plan to use insurance, we recommend contacting your provider in advance to confirm that:

  • The consultation is covered
  • Any recommended tests or medications are eligible under your policy
